Parsippany Campus for Homeless Women to Begin New Chapter
February 1, 2024
Since December 2020, the Promising Solutions Campus has been a safe place to call home for many homeless and at-risk single women in our community. Birthed in the midst of a global pandemic, Family Promise Morris and Homeless Solutions are proud of launching a new concept that has helped vulnerable women under the most difficult conditions.
As a result, 30 women to-date have been provided with safe, accessible, affordable shared housing with supportive services. Family Promise Morris provided programing and case management. Homeless Solutions was the developer and property manager.
Support from the community, including the County of Morris and several nonprofit partners, helped grow the campus. Morris Habitat for Humanity was contracted to renovate the houses. Community Hope collaborated with us for a house dedicated to female Veterans. Family Promise Morris and Homeless Solutions have learned so much through our joint work on such a large-scale project. We are proud of our shared success and, most of all, the individual successes of the residents.
The last several years have been both challenging and exciting, allowing our organizations to evolve in new ways. Moving forward, both agencies will take the best of who we are, lessons learned, and pivot for new ways of impacting homelessness in Morris County. A recent decision was made around the joint partnership and Homeless Solutions will now operate the project in its entirety and going forward it will be referred to as the Women’s Campus. Family Promise will soon announce a new vision for housing dedicated to single women, also focusing on safe, accessible, affordable housing and mental health.
Thank you for your continued support for both organizations as we work to create affordable housing options in Morris County!
HSI is leveraging its decades of experience in property management and case management to make the transition as smooth as possible. Our initial priority will be to increase occupancy and establish strong case management connections with tenants. Our new case management responsibilities will be overseen by Elizabeth Rogers, our Associate Director of Programs and Services, with onsite case management expertise delivered by new HSI teammate Jorge Cepeda, who comes to us with over 17 years of experience providing Case Management services to homeless and formerly homeless individuals.
