Current Volunteer Opportunities

Homeless Solutions hosts guests 365 days a year. And those guests need to eat! Help us feed our guests nutritious and tasty meals by volunteering in our kitchen. Recommended for small groups and children (must be over the age of 9).

Meal Prep and Serve

Our volunteers provide lunch and dinner each day/night for our shelter guests, and they appreciate it! Volunteers purchase the food, prepare the meal in our kitchen, and serve it to our shelter guests. We can provide tips and menu suggestions to make it easy.

Host a Cookout

Seasonal optional: Make dinner extra special and host a summer cookout at our Main Shelter, Transitional Housing Program, Women’s Campus or Mt. Kemble Home. Bring music and games to add to the fun! The number of guests varies by program.

Homeless Solutions programs are often home to a number of children. Help brighten their day by volunteering just for them!

Birthday Buddies Host

Even kids in the shelter have birthdays. Help us make them unforgettable moments of joy by hosting a birthday party for our littlest guests.

Plan a party with games, activities, gifts and more! Volunteers sponsor the party and are responsible for everything from the food & beverages to the games, crafts and goody bags.

Game Time with Kids

Come and show our kids a fun time with games, arts & crafts or outside play. This is an evening or afterschool activity.

Babysitter

While their parent(s) attend required Life Skills classes in our programs, volunteer your time to keep the children in our programs safe and entertained. Training is required. Must be at least 16 years or older.

Everyone has valuable skills to share. Whether you’re an amazing accountant or can fix a bicycle, we could use your help training our guests. Let us know what interests you, and we’ll put something together.

Life Skills Classes

Do you have a special skill that you would like to share? Contact us to learn more about how you can lead a workshop on things like reading comprehension, budgeting, stress management, cooking and more. These workshops are invaluable for our guests/participants in all of our programs.

Adult Recreation

The shelter recently opened a new Wellness Wing and Art Therapy room. We’re actively recruiting for art teachers or artsy people to come in and lead a class in painting, calligraphy, origami or anything else you can dream up. Help our guests express themselves through art!

Program Assistant

Do you like to volunteer your time in a flexible way? Sign up to be a Program Assistant Volunteer. These special volunteers can be called upon to help with anything from filing to organizing the food pantry to painting and gardening. The shelter operates at or near full capacity all year round and there is always something to do. Not only is the shelter always busy, but Program Assistant Volunteers may give their time at our Transitional Housing Program, Mt. Kemble Home, or Women’s Campus too!

Young Professionals Ambassador Council

We are actively recruiting new Ambassadors!

Are you looking for a way to give back to your community? To be creative, build lasting friendships, and really make a difference where you live? We are actively recruiting leaders to help rebuild and rebrand our signature networking group for young leaders in Morris County.

Through education, fundraising activities and networking initiatives the group will learn about issues affecting the community and will directly help their neighbors. By embracing the ambassador culture, the YPAC will help spread the word about Homeless Solutions via online and in person volunteerism and activism.
