What is a Night in the Cold?

THE EVENT: On Saturday, December 5th A Night in the Cold participants will brave the elements by sleeping outside for one night. Where and how you sleep is up to you! You can sleep in places like a tent, sleeping bag, or your car, some of the ways our street homeless do when they are without shelter. Others may opt for their porch, garage floor, or church/school parking lot. You can participate alone or in socially-distanced groups. It’s open to everyone of all ages - families, individuals, faith and school groups, sports teams, the scouts, and businesses!

REGISTRATION FEE: You can register as an individual or as a team. The fee is $25 per person. All participants receive “A Night in the Cold Starter Kit” which includes tips for sleeping out and tools to help you fundraise (i.e. sample email to kick off your fundraising, sample social media posts, etc.).

FUNDRAISING: A Night in the Cold is a peer-to-peer fundraising opportunity to raise critical funds and awareness about the homeless families and individuals in our community. Our goal is to raise $60,000 for our shelter programs.  While advocacy and awareness are important, raising funds to support Homeless Solutions’ is a crucial need in order to operate our shelter 24/7.

  • Fundraising Incentives: Homeless Solutions will make fundraising easy by providing you with a fundraising page with information for your supporters about our cause and the impact of their donation.  We want to show our appreciation to our fundraisers.
    • $500 (Suggested Fundraising Minimum) - Participants that raise $500 will receive an HSI “peace.love.housing.” winter hat. [1 hat per individual or team]
    • $1,000 - Participants that meet the $1,000 level will receive a custom event hooded sweatshirt [INDIVIDUALS that raise $1000+ receive 1 blanket and 1 hooded sweatshirt.  TEAMS that raise $1,000+ receive 1 sweatshirt for every $1,000 raised. Example: if you raise $5,000 you receive 5 sweatshirts plus one blanket].

IMPORTANT DATES:

Monday, Nov. 2nd: A Night in the Cold Fundraising Page will open! You can start sharing with friends and family about your campaign and raising crucial funds for Homeless Solutions. Please note you must register prior to setting up your fundraising page.

Friday, Nov. 20th: Registration will close. This will allow for all A Night in the Cold participants time to share their campaign and meet their suggested fundraising minimum of $500.

Saturday, Dec. 5th: A Night in the Cold

Sunday, Dec. 6th: Fundraising campaign will end.
