16th Annual Women’s Day a Success
September 1, 2023
Another successful Women’s Day is in the books, and what a wonderful morning it was! The weather was picture perfect to hold our golf, tennis, pickleball, walking and yoga activities outdoors, along with Bar Method and cardio classes at the beautiful Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit.
Our 227 attendees started their morning with a short meditation thanks to TB Yoga House, participated in their respective activities and came back together for an Empower Hour of mingling, mimosas, and pampering services compliments of Depasquale the Spa and StretchLab.
The luncheon introduced guests to a current Transitional Housing participant, Larissa – a mother of two who recently fell on hard times and had no choice but to live in her car until she and her daughters found Homeless Solutions. Many could relate to Larissa’s worries of keeping her teen daughters safe and free from anxiety, but without the added burden of being unhoused. She and her daughters are cherishing their time together in Transitional Housing, regaining some stability and privacy of a family unit after living in the shelter. Larissa credits the supportive services that HSI has given her and her children for getting back on their feet, including help in finding new employment as well as navigating college options with her older daughter.
After a lively ticket auction, we were proud to announce that we had exceeded our Support a Family Appeal goal for the day, raising just over $31,000!
A big thank you to our attendees, Women’s Day committee, sponsors, & volunteers. It’s stories like Larissa’s that are testaments to how our participants can truly benefit from our programs and with your support we can make this possible.
